The DT-5500 lets you start a test with a single button once the circuit is isolated. The large dual display shows test voltage and measured insulation resistance at the same time, and the backlight keeps it clear in low light. A test hold (HOLD) function freezes results on screen, making reporting and comparison easier.
Insulation resistance can be measured at different test voltages: 250 V, 500 V and 1000 V. It measures up to 200 MΩ on the 250 V and 500 V tests, and up to 2000 MΩ at 1000 V. The high range gives broad application across motor windings, cable insulation, switchgear, transformers and PV string cables.
The instrument is protected to CAT III 1000 V, meaning safe use on indoor distribution boards and fixed installations. An over-range (OL) indicator and low-battery indicator add safety and continuity, and the instrument warns visually when a limit is exceeded during testing.
A fall in insulation level leads to unplanned downtime and equipment failure. Standardising periodic checks with the DT-5500 catches the early warning signs, letting you verify critical points quickly — motor windings, cable runs, busbars inside panels, and transformer primary and secondary windings. Test hold and the dual display speed up note-taking on site.
A compact body running on 6 x AA batteries gives flexibility in the field, and automatic power-off prevents unnecessary battery drain. Its light build fits easily into a service bag, while the dual display and simple menu shorten the learning curve for new users.
250–500 V suits low-voltage equipment and short cables; 1000 V is preferred for motors, long cable runs and transformers.
The buzzer sounds at approximately ≤40 Ω — ideal for quick cable and terminal checks.
It denotes a safety category up to 1000 V at indoor distribution system and panel level.
Voltage can build up in the circuit during an insulation test. Discharging is essential for the safety of both the equipment and the user.
The CEM DT-5500 insulation tester delivers high productivity in maintenance and commissioning, with a wide insulation range, dual display, safety rating and practical handling. It helps you make decisions quickly during industrial testing and catch faults early.
